The OddContest is an annual competition for speculative (science fiction, fantasy, or horror) stories or prose poems no longer than 500 words. The contest has been sponsored since 2008 by OdysseyCon, a science-fiction convention held each April in Madison, Wisconsin. The contest offers cash prizes of $500 for the Adult winner and $50 for the Youth winner, convention memberships, and books in both Adult and Youth divisions.
Our judge for 2012 is Terry A. Garey of Minneapolis, MN. She is an editor, writer and poet who lives in Minneapolis, MN with a librarian and 3 cats. Along with Eleanor Arnason she edited Time Gum, an anthology of the Minicon readings. She also edited Time Frames, an anthology of Speculative Poetry. She was poetry editor for the first nine issues of Tales of the Unanticipated. Her fiction, nonfiction and poetry has been published in many anthologies and journals over the last 30 years. In 1997 she won a Rhysling in the long poem category. Terry is a founding member of The Lady Poetesses From Hell. Her office is a mess.
An awards ceremony and reading of the winning entries will be held at OdysseyCon April 20–22, 2012, at the Radisson Hotel in Madison; they will also be published in the OdysseyCon program.
