Announcing a Confirmed Guest of Honor - Michael Butt

Photo of Michael Butts

Media Guest of Honor

"I thought long and hard about joining Odyssey Con. I learned that one of the Members had made choices that upset people in the past, and how it was handled was not the best. I believe that the damage that was done has been contained and separated from the convention. I understand many people are still upset by this, and some would like to see Odyssey Con fail. I do not believe that is right. Because of the actions of a few, is all of the labor and love so many fans have put into this event to be discarded? Should the whole barrel of apples be discarded because some were bad? I say no. What happened is horrible but it is not beyond repair. And I want to see this convention raised up to become a shining beacon of decency. I am giving them a second chance, will you? And remember, before you judge all on the actions of a few, I would like to remind you that 'Only a Sith Deals in Absolutes' (Obi Wan Kenobi)."

Guest of Honor Cancellations

Odyssey Con regrets to announce that Christopher Mihm, Tad Williams, and Monica Valentinelli have decided that they are unable to attend Odyssey Con 17. We respect their decisions, and wish them all the best. James Frenkel will not be attending Odyssey Con 2017. Mr. Frenkel is no longer associated with Odyssey Con in any way. At this time, it is planned that Odyssey Con 2017 will go on as scheduled. We will continue to offer the stimulating discussions, anime and movie programs, karaoke and live music, LAN and face-to-face gaming, poetry, cash-prize writing contests, masquerade, our famous real-food Con Suite, the notorious (and often humorous) Opening Ceremonies, and the camaraderie and good fellowship for which OddCon has become well known. We realize some may be disappointed in this change, and those wishing a refund for pre-registrations may do so before 4/21/17

Pre-registration Deadline Extended!

Because we are hosting our event later in the month this year, we realize not everyone has adjusted for the change.  So we've extended the pre-registration deadline until April 10th, so people have a chance to advantage of the savings vs at the door prices.

To get in your pre-registration, go to our Registration Page!

Announcing this year's Charity ...

Literacy Network

Every year Odyssey Con selects a non-profit charity, chosen by the Odyssey Con committee, in order to help raise awareness and funds..

For 2017 charity we’ve selected Literacy Network to help bring the joy of reading to even more people. But there’s more to it than that. Literacy is a basic life skill, and the need for it is shockingly high, even if largely invisible.

For more information, check out our Charity page.

This Year's Artwork is Revealed!

Forbidden Pasture

Odyssey Con 17: Forbidden Pasture will be this year's theme, and we can now show off the new artwork.  Bossy the Cowbot is the main character with the "MOOnster from the UD(der)" creeping up in the background.

We thank our in-house artist, Georgie Schnobrich, for providing a masterful piece to go with our theme.  She has been creating the theme art for Odyssey Con each year, giving us a wonderful visual to go along with our themes.  This year is no exception.

The logo will be available in t-shirt form later this year and at our registration table at the convention.

To see some of our past years' themes and art, visit our History page.

Odyssey Con Society Inc. (OCSI), a Wisconsin not-for-profit corporation, is the parent organization of Odyssey Con. It exists in corporate form to (a) provide legal recognition, (b) protect individuals from financial liability, and (c) exempt us from taxation under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All the actual work of putting on the convention is performed by the concom, but we still have to observe all the legal niceties with regard to OCSI, including holding an annual membership meeting. Accordingly …
