Our policy applies to everyone at the convention. Exhibitors, Attendees,
Speakers, Guests, Professionals, Staff, and Volunteers are all subject to
our anti-harassment policy.
"No" means "no." Not "Maybe." Not "Ask me again later." If, when responding
to someone, you mean "Not right now" or "Ask me later", please say that. If
you ask and don't hear something like that, drop it and move on. If a person
engages in harassing behavior, Odyssey Con staff will take prompt action in
any form they deem appropriate, including, as warranted, expulsion from this
year's con, banning from all future Odyssey Cons, and calling the police.
Keep in mind that you may not know someone, including what might offend
them, as well as you think you do, and the possibility that you may be
making someone around you uncomfortable or unintentionally giving offense.
If you're not sure, ask.
Please be aware of personal space in sitting or speaking with other people.
If someone asks you to back up or give them more room, please respect that.
If ANYONE does something that makes you uncomfortable, ask them firmly, but
politely, to stop. Be honest and don't try to spare their feelings, but be
as civil as possible. They may not realize they are making you
uncomfortable. If they persist, please report the incident to the Convention
Security staff, who can be recognized by their bright yellow badges. In
addition someone can always be found at the Registration Desk during
registration hours, or in the Security office marked clearly on the map in
your convention program book.
Remember: Cosplay is not consent. If you would like to take a picture with
or of another fan, always ask first and respect that person's right to say
no. Be respectful, be nice, be cool and be kind to each other.
Our goal is to create a fun, safe, welcoming, event where fans of all kinds
can come together and enjoy themselves. As fans ourselves, we understand the
importance of creating a safe space for everyone who attends Odyssey Con.
By attending Odyssey Con, you are aware that our Staff Photographer (identifiable by her ConCom Badge) may take your photo or video you during the course of the convention. These images are for use on the Odyssey Con website and in promotional publications, like our Program Book.
Non-Staff Photographers: Please respect others and ask permission before taking an attendees photo. The only exception is during the Costume Contest, while costumes are being presented. If an attendee asks not to have their picture taken, not abiding this request can constitute harassment.
Exceptions to the Rule: You do not need to ask permission to photograph scheduled entertainers. Con Staff expect to have their picture taken, but feel free to be polite and still ask them before snapping one.
All exhibitors must comply with the rules and policies of Odyssey Con,
including (but not limited to) the policies governing Terms and Conditions
and the Weapons policy.
Any and all saleable merchandise must be in compliance with any and all
local, state, and federal laws regulating those items, including (but not
limited to) weaponry, adult material, and consumables.
All exhibitors are responsible for collecting, recording, and paying any
appropriate local, state, and federal taxes, sales licenses, use fees, and
other government fees from any and all sales at Odyssey Con.
Odyssey Con does not allow the sale of bootleg/pirated merchandise such as
copied DVDs or CDs, illegally reprinted materials, or knockoff products. By
participating in or exhibiting at our event, you are stating that you 1)
have the legal right to sell and offer for sale the products you sell at
Odyssey Con, and 2) indemnify and hold harmless Odyssey Con Society Inc. and
its officers and staff from claims in any way related to the exhibitorâs
violation of any part of this policy.
Dealers are responsible for their own property, merchandise, and money.
Odyssey Con continues to do its best with security, and will continue its
tradition of keeping exhibitor areas as secure as possible. Exhibitor rooms
will be locked overnight by hotel staff. However, each exhibitor is
responsible for keeping a watch over her or his own selling area. Odyssey
Con Society Inc. and its staff assume no liability for loss or damage
including (but not limited to) merchandise, equipment, or revenue, and
cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged merchandise. Please
take appropriate precautions in the placement of your merchandise and cash
to guard against the possibility of theft.
Exhibitors may play music or use other sounds within their selling area as
long as its volume is kept to an appropriate level and does not interfere
with or annoy other exhibitors around them. Please be respectful of your
neighbors.
No demonstrations are allowed that may put any member of the public,
convention-goer or otherwise, at risk of harm or injury, or that would
violate the weapons policy of Odyssey Con. Be smart and be safe!
Signs for other events, room parties and the like can be posted in the room block hall and convention halls. ALL signs must be hung with blue painters tape. If you do not have any, please check in at the registration desk. We keep an ample supply handy.
All signs must be approved by ConCom before posting. Anyone with a valid ConCom Badge can approve these.
Live steel - that is, any prop with edges, sharpened or dulled, made of metal - must be sheathed and peace-bound or will not be permitted.
Any gun replicas must have a bright orange tip clearly visible. Any gun-like props (super soakers, etc) must be able to be recognized by non-experts as fake.
No real guns may be used as props.
Other projectile weapons (crossbows, etc.) are permissible as long as they are never loaded.
If you are using your prop in a way that poses a danger to people or property, you will be asked to put the prop away.
Costumes must not have sharp protrusions or other features that pose a danger to people or property with casual contact.
Edged weapons or replicas offered for sale in the Dealers Room may not be brandished or demonstrated. All must be wrapped or boxed when sold.
Duels, mock duels, fencing demonstrations or similar situations are not allowed in Odyssey Con spaces.
The final interpretation of these rules and the final say of the acceptability of any costume or prop is the province of the Head of Security.
Please remember - whatever applies outside, still applies inside the hotel and the convention.
Please pick up after yourself, placing all garbage in the provided garbage containers in the main hall. Recycling containers will also be provided and clearly marked. Please refrain from throwing garbage in the recycling containers.
If a garbage container is full, please use another and alert Con Staff of the full container.
Smoking is only allowed outside the hotel. Please step away from the doorways while smoking to keep the pathways clean and to prevent smoke from entering the building.
Unless stated otherwise in hotel policy, e-cigarettes or "vaping" are allowed in the convention.
